Bowl Lathe Making & Bowl Turning (4 days)

Oliver Weight is a green woodworker and ex Cherry Wood apprentice who has attained a high level of skill in the bowl turning arena. Oli was taught by Ben Orford to make the tools and equipment for this task and with his help over this course you will too.
Over the 4 day workshop you will learn how a bowl lathe works and how it differs from spindle turning, you will understand the requirements to make and use a bowl lathe.
You will be making a viking style lathe from green wood using cleaving, axe and drawknife work and drilling to produce a rustic looking but functional lathe that will work well for all your bowl turning needs. NOTE:- You will take take this lathe home with you to keep - so think about transport - it will not be possible to take this on a bike or a train!
We will cover the making of the lathe and then spend a day learning to use the lathes and the different tools and techniques to enable you to leave the wood with all you need to tackle bowl turning on your own.
Please note there is an additional charge for materials of £75 to cover the metal items required to make a lathe.
