Make an Arm Chair from a Log (9 days)

Print

We have experimented with running the 7 & 9 day courses together which has proved a great success. As you can see below there were a great variety of chairs completed on the most recent course with two of the participants being first time green woodworkers

Next Courses May 12-20, June 23-1st & July 7-15 2018

9 day

A longer course to give students time to complete a demanding project such as a chair with arms or a rocking chair. This course covers most chair making techniques including advanced lathe work, complex steam-bending and chair assembly.

A little experience would be an advantage but many first timers have completed this course with beautiful chairs to show for it - take a look in the chairs gallery

You will make either a post and rail chair with an Elm bark woven seat or one with a solid wooden seat in solid Elm known as a slab and stick seat.

Students who do not wish to make a chair are welcome to join this 9 day workshop and work on any other greenwood project they have an interest in. Ring Tim to discuss 07921 361484.

For example John Parr made this dining table last year.

Please note there is an additional charge for materials: Elm chair seat £60
